Jim’s lament leaves me feeling I must apologize for failing to submit my lame worksheet. Apparently I had actually nailed the 4 that I’d attempted, but was holding back sending it off until I had a chance to put in some honest earnest time working out a few others. As the updates came through I realized what a task if would be for me to claim. My further inspiration apparently doesn’t come nearly as fast as Jim’s deadline.

So glad to see Aaron finally get back into the game though. Apparently his mind works more like Jim’s than does mine.

Aaron now has ten bingos (and two “half” bingos), so he is clearly in the lead now for this final day of play.

Aaron has three more bingos (and two “half” bingos), thereby putting him in essentially a tie with Gary R.

Gary R (“the other Gary”) has jumped out to lead with six bingos, while Doug trails with one bingo.

Fw: [Interesting-Article] A Short International Survey

======================

A Short International Survey

Last month, a worldwide telephone survey was conducted by the UN.  The only question asked was:

"Would you please give your honest opinion about possible solutions to the food shortage in the rest of the world?"

The survey was a complete failure because:

In Eastern Europe they didn't know what "honest" meant.

In Western Europe they didn't know what "shortage" meant.

In Africa they didn't know what "food" meant.

In China they didn't know what "opinion" meant.

In the Middle East they didn't know what "solution" meant.

In the USA they didn't know what "the rest of the world" meant.

And in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and Great Britain everyone hung up as soon as they heard the Indian accent .

Alas! As we are on parallels we can never meet. And I'd need parole, else we might turn to Quantum Mechanics, and so be in two places at the same time.

RR 1057 Breaking News!

portagecreek

RR 1057 did have another winner. This guesser got them all perfectly in only hours after I posted the riddle and offered to back me up if I needed a host.

Why did I not take advantage of such an offer?

I was so intent on the word matching that I was pair a lysed.

So, I cover my ommision in not crediting this contributer by stealing his very first F riddle series pun! Actually he had it as some grain of sand that got trapped in an oyster and wound up in a wheel chair. It was pearlized!

We could make this about sanitising our hands of 1057 and call it

purell a lized

Oh yes, the fellow I am talking of referred to himself back in FROG #1 as the Hallock Entity.

Thanks Gary.

BTW here is his worksheet as a good example of how to reply to a riddle and make it easy on the host to keep track:

++++++++++++++++++++++++++

RR 1057

1. Doubting BLANK
#### THOMAS
2. BLANK in the neck
#### PAIN
3.Hit song by Johnny Ray BLANK ( actually this is more like a crossword)
#### CRY
4.What Patty and Maxine might call Shirley ( another crossword clue)
#### SIS
5.BLANK are a few of
#### THESE
6.BLANK Johnson ( very interesting clue)
#### ARTIE

7. New York BLANK.
#### TIMES
8. BLANK Girl, ( Marlo or go back to #1)
#### THAT
9. Have you missed any? Take another BLANK
#### TRY

10. BLANK Room ( I think it is a sign that these are getting harder to find.
#### MENS
11. BLANK foods, BLANK music, or BLANK survivor.
#### SOULS

12. BLANK grounds, or denominator,
#### COMMON

13.Dollars and Blank.
#### CENTS

Forthcoming on rogue #1058 - Jim Ertner wlll host.

portagecreek

All,

Jim Ertner will host RR #1058 this weekend.

Jim had Thomas Paine ( Doubting THOMAS and PAIN in the neck ) for the first bingo, and Common Sense for my attempted word association with BLANK denominator and dollars and BLANK. He also got the whole line that I had in mind . "These are the times that try men's souls"

Chris Gross was closer than he thought. BTW Chris, there were a bakers dozen clues.

Thanks for playing.

Gary Reeves

Re: midnight comes to RR 1057

portagecreek

Marliyn,

Thanks for the feedback. I thought it would make it easier. For example the first two were

Doubting BLANK and BLANK in the neck.  The words that pop up when I hear those phrases are "Doubting THOMAS and PAIN in the neck". Hence Thomas Pain = Thomas Paine. The entire rest of the riddle was his most famous first line from "The Crisis" . These are the times that try men's souls".

My plan this weekend it to revert to the most successful riddle games we ever had - the F series. They were short easy and fun. So, I'll try to have a bunch of riddles with puns. Right now I have no idea what they will be or if they will even be on a related subject.

Thanks again, It good to know that someone else was looking at the riddle. Jim Ertner had the win if he wanted. I was really looking toward seeing one of his riddles again.

Thank you!  Some of our brains aren't made for word association games.

Well, it came and went and so does #1057.

There was one player that had half the answers and another that had 3 of four. One other was confident they could complete the bingo.

Non of these people really wanted to host, and I understand. The plan now is to drop the word association game and move toward another format for 1058, but without changing hosts.

So, see you all again this weekend.
