Congratulations

Marilyn L. Van Driesen

Congratulations, Gary.  Great job!  I know I have told you that before, but I wanted to try one more time to see if I could get my email through the group's email.

You did not give up and kept working at it, one or two at a time.  I look forward to the next Rogue Riddle Sunday.

Thanks for participating,

Marilyn/Merk

=============

Here are the word counts and a couple of clues.  With #2 when you solve it, you will slap your palm against your forehead and say, "Well, duh, that was so easy."

1.  9, 4

2.   6, 10, 6   Actually easy.  Who are we talking about here?

3.   6, 5         They rhyme.  Who or what is a pharaoh today?

4.   10, 5

5.     11,  5

6.    4,  4

7.    4

8.    6

9.    9's     5

10.   4's   4

The last two are proper names with a possessive s.

Gary was the first with five correct.
Then Jim came in with five right.
Gary H. has 4 with the first not perfect, but good enough.

Personally, I think 2, 3, 6, 7, 9 are the easiest, but that will vary one person from another.

Example:  Show me a famous surgeon and I'll show you a big operator.

1.  Show me where Stalin is buried and I'll show you a _________________  ________  9   4

2.  Show me the first Presidents dentures and I'll show you the ____________ ____________________  ____________  6   10   6

3.  Show me a pharaoh who ate crackers in bed and I'll show you a ____________  __________.   6     5

4.  Show me a squirrel's nest and I'll show you a ___________________  __________.   10    5

5.  Show me Santa's helpers and I'll show you _____________________  ______________.   11    5

All,

    BEWARE!

The subject line does not contain “#RogueRiddle” at the end, and there is a hashtag (pound sign, #) in front of “1099.”  As a result, simply hitting “Reply” will result in guesses going to the entire PUNY group.

Make sure you use Marilyn’s e-mail address.

Rogue Riddle 1098 Results

Gary Reeves

We had a sweep this week.
Marilyn L. Van Driesen had five bingos and two partials on her first guess and to ran the table on her second attempt . Gary was on the way with five kills and two partials too.

Both she and Gary quickly found the theme which was the Bill of Rights ( which are the first 10 amendments to the US constitution. )

Marilyn will be hosting Rogue Riddle 1099 this clock changing weekend.

=========================

Marilyn's correct worksheet  filled in these BLANKS.

1.
Number one should preach
what we otta teach
But I won't make a BLANK (SPEECH)
just say a prayer for each

2.

If you got caught shoppin' by lift
and the blame you can't shift
go on and BLANK the BLANK (TAKE THE FIFTH) OR PLEAD THE FIFTH

And just in case you have a few hours to kill, you might like to see the lame way we stumbled through the virtual PunSlinger finals this year. Considering the grand ambitious way we had it set up, the end result was pretty embarrassing really. I think it could rightly be considered a “mitigated disaster.”

Still, like any good train wreck, it’s worth watching until it gets uncomfortable. I’m personally taking comfort in the fact that we are now only 6 months away from our next LIVE IN PERSON contest here in Austin.

Marilyn L. Van Driesen has tied Feerless  with 5 first guess bingos and two partials - frankly one of her partials gives her the bragging rights so far. Both have been provided private clues ( every guess gets a clue). We will see tomorrow if any one else can get more right.

Gary Hallock is leading as he has bingos on 5 of the riddles and a good start ( actually a good ending ) on two more.

Rogue Riddle 1097 -- Winner Declared & Answers Revealed

Lars Hanson

All,

This week’s Rogue Riddle was a competition between the two Gary’s, as it turned out.  Our Learless Feeder came in at the very last moment with a nine-kill worksheet, but Gary R. had gotten there well before Gary H. did.   Both solved nine of the twenty riddles (45%), and were followed by Joseph, Doug, and Jim in that order.

Gary R. will host Rogue Riddle #1098 this coming weekend.

    The final riddle status is:

3 correct      – 2:  8, 19

2 correct      – 4:  4, 5, 12, 13

1 correct    – 10: 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 10, 11, 14, 18, 20

0 correct      – 3: 7, 15, 17

Unattempted – 1: 16

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Rogue Riddle #1097

An Olio with Plenty of Margarine for Airer

This week’s Rogue Riddle consists of twenty riddles, each of which has two answers, although some might simply be slight rearrangements rather than full replacements.  There is no particular theme this week, nor is there any particular form, as the title suggests.

    Sample riddle:

Q:  An involved punster?

A:  HANSON / HANDS ON

As with previous riddle sets, the word BLANK can replace more than one word.  In other words, seeing the word BLANK does not indicate how many words should replace the word BLANK.  Further, the article preceding the word “blank” will always be “a,” never “an,” regardless of the punned word.

The Rogue will run until 5:00 p.m. EDT on Wednesday.  As usual, the first person to solve all the riddles will be declared the winner.  If no one has solved all the riddles by 5:00 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, the one with the most correct answers will be declared the winner and will host Rogue Riddle #1098 next week.

There is no particular theme this week.

    Now, on to the riddles.
