For the record Stan's riddle did not actually have 12 clues nor was it #26. (Shoulda been #28)

Because he lives in an altered state, Stan is obviously suffering from post primary stress syndrome. My next riddle (launching immediately) will be numbered FATS #29)

Why can't Gary's mathematicians use the square roots to help in finding the causes of their financial losses?

Clue #1: When you're charting your profits and losses, what kind of numbers are those losses?

Clue #2: Words can have different meanings to different people, If this were not true we wouldn't have puns. Most of us have never had to use squares or square roots since a math class in high school. But analysts might have to use them in their research. You might want to find the rate of growth of a new bacterial infection or a disease causing gene   or the rate decay of an isotope used in diagnosing or treating a medical condition, These require the use of squares and square roots. We all know E=MC². These calculations usually end up with an ordinary number. But to a mathematician the square root of a negative number is not ordinary.

ROGUE RIDDLE #819 (Bingo & reveal)

gary hallock

Within minutes of my launch, Lars was all over this one but fell short of knocking it out. An hour or so later Nivi came on strong, solving the basic set of 5 on her first swing.  Before I could complete my reply to her, Chris Gross came through with a perfect worksheet, claiming the prize.
Also in the mix with a slow start was Kirk Miller, who seems to have a good grasp on the game.

I have filled in the expected answers below.

Chris G. tells me he expects to launch #820 late next Sunday afternoon.

Thank you everyone for playing,

Gary Hallock

Below you will find a list of 5 limerick verses. In each of these verses I have left one BLANK space which you should find little difficulty in filling. Once you’ve identified the 5 missing words, follow the instructions below the verses..

MVMVMVMVMVMVMVMVMVMVMVMVMVMVMVMVMVMVMVMVMVMVM

1.
Though he spoke just a bit like a snab
The bahxer from Bahston named Bab
Would land every punch
So I have a hunch
He was very good at his BLANK #JAB

2.
Though both were Mad Avenue greats
Both Elsie and Elmer met fates
Which most don’t desire
Their barn caught on fire
They died, as they lived - BLANK-mates #CREAM

3.
On Broadway the big hit this past
Year has been a rap musical, fast
Hip-hopping young Alex
And Aaron, his "pal-ex"
I wonder, “Are these roles BLANK cast?” #DUEL

4.
Overeater was quick to explain
When asked why spilled food did remain
On the front of his shirt
He said, “It can’t hurt
To remind me that I should BLANK-stain.” #AB

5.
Law student won’t make it, I’m thinking
His prospects are rapidly shrinking
Yes, he did all his work
But he acts like a jerk
And he can’t pass the BLANK without drinking #BAR

Now collect all 5 BLANKS below...

(BLANK BLANK BLANK BLANK BLANK)  #### JAB CREAM DUEL AB BAR

Now reassemble these 5 BLANKS to phonetically simulate the name of a famous person.

(BLANK BLANK BLANK BLANK BLANK)  #### CREAM AB DUEL JAB BAR / KAREEM ABDUL JABBAR

Once you’ve done this, it should be no problem to answer the “real question” below. (Yes, the “real question” does relate to the answer above.)

The “REAL QUESTION"

After the flames die down at the Hawaiian beach party, what might you find in among the ashes in the fire pit?

(BLANK BLANK)  #### LUAU CINDER / LEW ALCINDOR

The first player to correctly arrange all 5 BLANKS in the proper order and also supply the punned answer to the “real question” wins the honor of hosting RR #820 next weekend. Deadline is midnight Tuesday (CDT)

Clue 2: A typical sentence using this word would be, "You took a BLANK way to get here."

Clue #3: This ten-letter word can also mean a detour, a circular route as on a race track, or a carousel.

Clue #4: When used to describe a woman, the word is a synonym for 'plump'.

Clue # 5: The word can be divided into two common five-letter words which also might be used to describe someone as being overweight.
