Gary is in the hospital and anticipates beginning chemotherapy and radiation early next week. He has not been given a specific prognosis, but needless to say the situation is grim. 

I’m sure your first inclination would be to call Gary and offer words of encouragement. However, it’s difficult for Gary to talk right now, so please don’t call  He has also asked that you not inundate his already overwhelmed family. Instead, you can email him-but don’t expect a reply.
